You will find the Ocracoke lighthouse on Lighthouse Road. Built in 1823, it is the oldest lighthouse still in operation in North Carolina and the second oldest in the nation.
Continue further down the road and you will find Springer’s Point Nature Preserve. This 122-acre nature preserve includes nature trails that wind through a maritime forest before ending at a sound-side beach.
Across the village, you will find the Ocracoke Preservation Society Museum with exhibits dedicated to preserving Ocracoke Island’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
There is nothing more relaxing than sitting around a beach fire with the sound of waves lapping on the shoreline.
