Second year in a row staying at the quaint Isle of Skye cottage. Like last year we enjoyed the soundfront location, and the screened porch looking over the water. Easy access for kayaks and paddleboards! Overall nice experience. Two issues came up, one with yellow jackets in the laundry shed and a complaint with the water pressure in the outdoor shower. OIRealty sent someone out to get rid of the stinging pests but did nothing about the water pressure. I had to buy a pair of channel locks and unscrew the shower head and clean it of accumulated debris myself before the family could fully enjoy the outdoor shower, which is a big part of the beach experience. I feel OIRealty could and should have done more about this. The shower seems to be an afterthought these days and is suffering from what can generously be called "deferred maintenance". Also the lack of a hose (I bought one last year and brought it back this year) is something that should not be on the renter to supply. "

We love the house location and we love the calm sound water. The house works for us (usually just 4 of us) so we are able to deal w one bathroom. We love the back screened in porch in the evenings. Cooking fish on the grill out back is great. The sliding glass door I agree is terrible to open & even harder to close from the outside. The ceiling light in the shower should have a cover on it to prevent water and electricity from mixing. We have rented this house 3 or 4 times and are disappointed that reporting these two things didnt result in repairs. But maybe they are harder to fix then they appear as I thought just adding a REAL handle to the sliding glass door would solve the problem since lube didnt help. "

This was our first trip to Ocracoke. The House was pretty much what we expected based on the pictures. It was clean and the ac works great. We were lucky and had a perfect week for the weather. We loved staying on the sound. Our kids could play in the water all day. I may try another house next year with 2 bathrooms. The only problems were every single cabinet and closet was full of stuff. No where to really unpack a weeks worth of food/supplies in the kitchen. Overall we had a great time. "

Nice cottage
A lovely little cottage by the sound. Love the screened porch. Just a few observations.Again, not much space to store a weeks worth of food. The washer in the out building is VERY persnickety. Even after following the specific instructions posted in the wash house I still had problems with the tub going off track. When I finally did get the machine to finish the load I needed to get our over 6 ft. tall son/nephew to empty the machine. There really isn't one truly comfortable chair inside, and the furniture "cover" really only covers the sofa when no one is sitting on it. The location was great, but the accommodations could be greatly improved."
