Ocracoke Island offers a wonderful destination for your family vacation, honeymoon, fishing trip, extended weekend getaway, or simply an escape from the normal routine. Part of the charm and allure of the island is its isolation.

Ocracoke is accessible only by ferry, private boat or plane.

OCRACOKE FERRY RESERVATIONS

Ferry reservations to Ocracoke are offered on the Cedar Island-to-Ocracoke and Swan Quarter-to-Ocracoke Routes. Service on the Hatteras-to-Ocracoke ferry is provided on a first come first served basis.

Advance reservations are recommended. Ticket holders must check in at the Ferry Terminal and redeem their ticket at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Please visit the North Carolina Department of Transportation website for additional important information including schedules, timeframes and restrictions.

Reservations can be processed online or by calling 1-800-BY-FERRY daily from 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Driving Directions

There are two ferry terminals on Ocracoke Island. The terminal on NC Hwy 12 at the island’s northern tip is for ferries headed to Hatteras Island. The terminal located on NC Hwy 12 at the island’s southern tip is for ferries headed to Cedar Island and Swan Quarter.
